Turnkey Advanced Laser Subassemblies

← Back to all projects

The Challenge

This project required moving beyond simple component manufacturing into full turnkey subassembly management. The client needed a complete, multi-axis laser body chassis machined from solid aluminum blocks, requiring complex interior cavities, precision bored optical pathways, and extensive mounting hardware patterns. The primary challenge lay in managing the extensive post-machining operational steps, including chemical coatings, hardware installation, and permanent tracking identification.

The Process

The chassis blocks were initially machined across multiple operations to execute deep-pocket milling and precise bored profiles. Once the geometric features were verified, the units proceeded to the manual assembly bench where technicians installed specialized stainless steel Helicoils and locating pins into pre-machined holes to provide durable, wear-resistant threads. The enclosures then underwent permanent laser engraving for serialization before being sent out for electrolytic nickel plating.

The Result

The finished Laser Body Subassemblies were delivered as a completed package, clean and ready to go directly onto the client's optical integration line. All dimensions, including thread torque specs and plating thicknesses, complied fully with the customer’s quality control checklists. This workflow highlights the company's capacity to manage complex, multi-tiered projects from raw material procurement through final subassembly.
